Swimmers need to be to the pool by 7am dressed in their team apparel.  Be on time!  We will have a brief team meeting and then get on the bus to travel up to the pool.

The meet officially starts at 9:45am, so anyone who wants to come and watch, that is the time.

Make sure you bring snacks/lunch with us.  It will be a long day and we will not be going out anywhere.

Bring your water bottle!  Even if you bring sports drinks, you should still be drinking water as well.  It is critical that you stay hydrated.  Also, make sure to bring something for your feet…it is best if you wear good supporting shoes in between races.  It will protect your feet and reduce fatigue.

Get some rest tonight.  Tomorrow is a long and exciting day and we want you to swim your best.

As a reminder, there will be no before-school practice tomorrow.  Sleep in and get to school on time.  For those of you who don’t know what on time means on a late start Monday (since you are always at practice), class starts at 8:30am.

We are in the final stretch for the swim season!  That means a modified schedule for the next few weeks.  It can be confusing, so we will make it as easy as we can.

First of all, we are splitting into 2separate groups for practices.  Group 1 is the State Taper group.  If you are ranked in the top 30 in the state for one of your races (based on the Top 50 page) then you are in the State Taper group.  Everyone else is in the Region Taper group.

For those of you who don’t know the purpose of tapering, I will explain it briefly.  When preparing for a big meet like Region or State, it is actually beneficial to not swim as much in the weeks leading up to it.  This gives the body a chance to recover and build up stores of energy that will be used in the big meets.  There will be days that the kids will either come later in the morning or even not at all.  The purpose of those days is to get rest…sleep in!  If you don’t take advantage of the extra sleep then the taper is a waste.  Please get as much rest as possible during the next few weeks (you still need to do your chores, just get them done earlier).

So, if you are in the Top 30 in your races, the meet you need to be most prepared for is State.  If you are not in the Top 30, then the Region Meet is your best chance to get a best time and possibly even make it to State.  We want to give everyone the best chance of getting their best times, so we have them split into those two groups.  Now, here is the schedule:
